Mixenden Reservoir

                                        Invasion of Goosander.

                                                       Good count of Canadas.

The opposite way round today with early afternoon birding due to a late afternoon hospital appointment with Lynda.
1330 hrs and a bright clear afternoon on a SW>4 with several frozen areas on the water. Plenty activity today with an influx of Goosanders newly arrived with 8 female and 1 male along with a high count of 48 Canadas but Mallard down to 12.
On arrival all the gulls were on the east bank with around 80 small gulls, mainly BHGs, along with 2 Herring and 3 LBBs though the big gulls soon moved off >SW.
A check along the west bank just produced 1 Grey Wagtail by the water and 4 Chaffinch in the Alders.
Plenty good banking along the western side of the water which hopefully will bring a wader or two in.
