Flying visit to Leeshaw

1 of 4 juv Pied Wagtails
16 Oystercatchers in this one field

This distant Curlew had me thinking Whimbrel
                               but not to be.

2 Herons in a field on the way home
The one on the left took some making out.

With a wet day yesterday the garden jobs were piling up so it was a flying visit to check out Leeshaw in one of those dreaded hot sunny afternoons.
Much the same showing with a nice count of 26 Oystercatchers  present and several more scattered around the fields below Leeshaw towards Oxenhope.
Around 40 Black Headed gulls and 15 LBBs but I came away before the big gulls started arriving.
A nice new site species and another sign of displacement with a Whitethroat which quickly disappeared into the Brambles near to where the Willow Warbler was seen. I don,t know if its just me or if anyone else is getting raptors but I am certainly finding a lack of them with not a big raptor for months other than the Fly Flatts Osprey at the end of May.
Talking of Fly Flatts I,d better get back up there tomorrow before withdrawal symptoms set in and get some more seed down . If I,m going to get Twite this year it will happen in the next 3 months.
