Apologies for the boring sample of photo this morning, the best I could muster.
Fly Flatts 0700 - 0930 hrs. Cold NE>4 turning N>4 . Bright with good visibility.
A check on the waters edge at the North and South ends failed to produce any Wheatears, Ouzels or Waders other than Lapwing, Curlew , Snipe and Golden Plover.
The Golden Plover flock is still on the flat moor but, with no aerial display this morning ,you would,nt know they were there without a scan.
Snipe were up in good numbers displaying with several on the moor amongst the Goldies whilst Curlews were vocal but in low numbers. Two Oystercatchers were in fields above the boathouse along with around 40 Meadow Pipits and 12 Skylark.
A scan from the Slade end found me 3 Wheatears but very distant whilst movement in the sky was disappointing.
Good to meet a blast from the past up there with Martin Hayes whom our paths seem to cross about once every 5 years. Martin and myself were part of the TMR visible migration team almost 20 years ago along with Dave Barker and Howard Creber and other casuals, happy days.
On the way back a pair of Teal were on the Raggalds Flood, presumably the Soil Hill pair.
