Pit Lane Lapwings

A dinner time dash heading for Raggalds Flood was cut short when I saw the mass of birds on the Pit Lane football pitch.
The wind was howling gale to severe gale SW>7 gusting 8 and all the Lapwings were squat down facing the wind along with a massive Starling flock which were busy feeding in the grass.
With some birds leaving and some coming in a final count before I left was 235 Lapwing and c 200 Starling but unfortunately no Golden Plover amongst them.
Nothing in the skies today other than a few small gulls and a massive Chinook helicopter this afternoon which made the garage shake as it went over.
